IMPACT CONFERENCE 2026

Theme: Localization + ABC: Harmonizing Understanding among actors and Engagement for a More Effective and Efficient Humanitarian Response in Cameroon.
The Imperative for Change
As we convene for the third session of the IMPACT Conference at the LACSODEC Conference Centre in Buea, the humanitarian landscape in Cameroon stands at a critical juncture. Despite tireless efforts, the needs of those ravaged by conflict and crisis remain largely unmet, more so as global humanitarian funding continues to plummet. This “funding gap” is no longer a forecast—it is a daily reality. The triggers for Localization and Area-Based Coordination (ABC) are clear: we can no longer afford fragmented, top-down responses. The survival of our communities depends on our ability to shift power, resources, and leadership to those closest to the crisis while still working in strong coordination between NNGO, INGO, UN agencies and other actors.
Building on Progress
Cameroon has shown remarkable resilience and leadership following the Humanitarian Reset. We recognize the significant strides made in the localization agenda and the pilot phases of the ABC model. However, to move from policy to practice, we must harmonize our understanding and double our collective engagement. This conference serves as a unique, self-sponsored platform for NNGOs, INGOs, UN agencies, Government bodies, Village Development Associations, and Religious institutions to break silos. It is a call to build synergies and networks that transform a shrinking resource pool into a more cost-effective, high-impact response.
